Operation Night Watch is the biggest and most wide-ranging restoration project ever undertaken for the 1642 masterpiece.

Adorable Winners of the World’s Largest Pet Photography Competition

From adorable cats and dogs to majestic horses, the International Pet Photography Awards captures all types of animals that provide us joy as pets. In its sixth edition, the photo contest drew in 3,621 entries from 41 countries. For the first time, a special equine category honored photographers who specialize in this sub-genre of pet photography. Dogs were the most photographed animals submitted—followed by horses and cats.

Photographer Captures Adorable Japanese Pika With Its Tongue Sticking Out

Wildlife photographer Takashi Okashi explores Japan’s forests, islands, and mountains to capture some of the most endearing animals in their natural habitats. His photos feature adorable baby foxes, playful chipmunks, and even flying squirrels in their sweetest, most candid moments. In one of his latest shots, he managed to capture a Japanese pika with its tiny tongue sticking out. The pika was photographed in Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan’s main islands.
