Electricity Pylons Reimagined as Massive Animals Supporting Power Lines in Austria

If you’ve ever gone on a road trip, you’ve probably encountered towering power structures made of steel. Known as electricity pylons (or transmission towers), these typically latticed structures support high-voltage overhead power lines, helping transport electricity around. While key to help cities running, their design often contrasts with that of the surrounding landscape. In an effort to improve their design, the Austrian Power Grid has reimagined pylons as massive animal sculptures.

Monumental Skyscraper Designed by Foster + Partners Is Now NYC’s Sixth-Tallest Building

Earlier this month, New York welcomed 270 Park Avenue as a sparkling new addition to its skyline. And, though Manhattan is known for its towering skyscrapers, this one in particular stands out: not only is it JPMorgan’s new global headquarters, but it’s the sixth-tallest building in the city. Designed by the world-renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners, 270 Park towers at a height of 1,388 feet, rising far above the nearby MetLife and Chrysler buildings.
