800-Year-Old Notebook Found in Shockingly Good Condition in a Medieval Toilet

A small notebook made of wood, wax, and leather, and its accompanying ivory stylus, were unearthed from a latrine, or medieval toilet. The book was unearthed in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. While performing excavation for a construction project in a historically important part of Paderborn, workers discovered five latrines. The notebook and stylus were found in one of them, among other objects like remnants of barrels, pottery, and fabric.

College Sweethearts Marry in Hospital Ceremony 10 Days Before Groom’s Death

Not all love stories work out as planned, but many are shaped by the moments that matter most. College sweethearts Robbie Fox and Kelli Peters, both 27, said “I do” last month at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital just 10 days before Fox’s death. Fox was first diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma (a rare and aggressive pediatric bone cancer) in 2024.

Bleached Denim Collages Recreate the American West, Both Its Past and Future

Artist Nick Doyle creates collaged denim works that symbolize the American West. In his solo exhibition titled Collective Hallucinations, Doyle explores the mythologies inherent in the fabric, its representation of Americana, and its associations with workwear and masculinity. He does this, in part, by creating collages of aviator sunglasses, desert cacti, and mountainous landscapes. They recall the past, but with his addition of AI, he’s also leaning into the future.
