Artist Transforms Denim Into Wearable Works of Art Inspired by Grandma and Los Angeles

Traditionally, art involves building something up, whether that's charcoal on paper or oil paint on canvas. However, Los Angeles-based artist and fashion designer Emily Starobrat magically creates wearable masterpieces through obliteration. Her brand Denem features hand-constructed artisanal denim elevated by drawings which are carved into the fabric with a rotary tool. An artist since she was 5 years old, Starobrat fell into fashion through a stroke of luck.

Surreal Sculptures of Fragmented “Travelers” Pop Up in New York City

New York City always has plenty of options for art lovers, but it has recently added thought-provoking sculptures along Park Avenue in Murray Hill. Bruno Catalano‘s Travelers have been displayed around the world, turning heads from Italy to Singapore.  They've finally landed in NYC. Combined with a companion show at Galeries Bartoux, this is the artist's first major solo exhibition in the United States.

James Webb Space Telescope Captures Earliest and Most Distant Galaxies Known by Scientists

The celestial bodies spotted by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) continue to marvel the astronomy community. This time, it captured two of the earliest and most distant galaxies ever seen, breaking the records it previously set. The galaxies, known as JADES-GS-z14-0 and JADES-GS-z14-1, were seen as they were around 300 million years after the Big Bang, existing at least 100 million years earlier than the previous record holder.
