Stunning Sculptures Inspired by Grenada’s Carnival Characters Are Added to Underwater Installation

In 2006, British artist Jason deCaires Taylor founded The Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, a unique display of art that is submerged off the coast of Grenada. Recently, the underwater garden welcomed 27 new sculptures by Taylor and four by local artists, all of which are inspired by Grenada's annual Spicemas carnival.

95-Year-Old World War II Veteran Teaches History He Lived Through

Not many history teachers have first-hand experience of their subject matter. However, one educator in Southern California is able to share his stories from living through the Great Depression, offering a personal perspective on many events that we are accustomed to only reading about. Gene Arnold is a 95-year-old World War II veteran who turned to teaching after returning from overseas, and has no plans to retire as a substitute anytime soon.

Independent Photographer Magazine Awards Best Landscape Imagery

Photos of sweeping scenic landscapes from all corners of the earth were entered into The Independent Photographer‘s Landscape Photography Awards and the winners of the November 2023 contest have just been announced. Judged by renowned National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson, the winners and finalists are a beautiful look at the natural world. Photographer Phillip Glombik took home the top prize for his evocative aerial photo of a river in Iceland.

A ship specifically built for this type of recovery actually exists, and it works in an ingenious way. In fact, one currently patrols Germany's Rhine River, helping recover important materials that would otherwise remain abandoned.
