Innovative Floating Public Pool To Provide New Yorkers With Clean Urban Swimming

The New York City-based organization + POOL has designed a floating pool that could soon provide New Yorkers with clean, free public swimming opportunities. The pool is equipped with expert filtration systems to remove harmful bacteria and contaminants from river water, leaving swimmers with clean and safe swimmable water. Interestingly, the pool is shaped like an addition sign.

Funny Video Series Imagines What It Would Be Like if Fonts Could Talk to Each Other

You don't need to be a designer to know that different fonts serve different purposes. For example, typefaces with serifs—those little tails at the end of the letters—make it easier to read long texts, while sans serifs (meaning without serifs) offer a clearer design that you can recognize quickly, like subway stop names.  Playing on this idea, Elle Cordova has created some funny videos imagining how typefaces would interact with one another.

Enormous Lakeside Arts Center in China Mimics the Shapes of Waves in Its Design

Inspired by the shape of a cresting wave, the design for the Nanhai Art Center has been revealed by MAD Architects. The enormous complex includes a spacious theater, museum, and sports complex to give the citizens of Guangzhou and Foshan a new epicenter of community and culture.  Interestingly, MAD founding partner Ma Yansong has close ties with the area, having once participated in the city's largest land art festival.
