Tiny Embroidered Landscapes Look Like Mini Framed Paintings Bursting With Color

From sunset hues to ocean blues, nature boasts countless colors that inspire artists to capture landscapes on canvas. However, rather than using oil paints or pastels, New Mexico-based artist Carolina Torres crafts miniature landscapes from thread. Each meticulously rendered scene features a variety of embroidery stitches that look just like textured paint strokes. Torres mounts many of her finished pieces inside tiny ornate frames, mimicking landscape paintings in a gallery.

IKEA Bought 10,840 Acres of Forest Land in Georgia To Protect It

As a result of the ongoing climate crisis, many large companies are taking stock of the environmental impact of their business practices. The Ingka Group—the investment group behind the multinational Swedish corporation IKEA—is actively working towards a vision of environmental protection and sustainability. Their latest step in that direction was a recent purchase of 10,840 acres of forest land near the Altamaha River Basin in Southeast Georgia from The Conservation Fund.

Beautiful 50-Foot-Tall Sculpture Pays Tribute to Native American Women in South Dakota

High above the Missouri River in South Dakota sits a magnificent sculpture that’s a beautiful tribute to the Native Nations of the Great Plains region. The 50-foot-tall artwork is called Dignity of Earth and Sky—often shortened to just Dignity—and is a statue of an Indigenous woman wearing a Plains-style dress and receiving a star quilt. In highlighting this figure, the memorial recognizes the often-overlooked group of women of the Lakota and Dakota Nations.
