Innovative Artist “Draws” With Glass on Top of Her Delicate Sculptures

For over 30 years, Australian artist Clare Belfrage has created exquisite blown glass sculptures inspired by the natural world. With rounded corners and soothing pastel hues, her uniquely shaped pieces stand out for the delicate patterns drifting over their organic forms. Each of these ethereal designs is “drawn” with glass strips and sanded down until they merge with the rest of the sculpture.

Belgium-based artist Anastasia Trusova finds spectacular ways to showcase the beauty of the European landscape. Her creative practice merges decadent texture with bold color palettes to create lavish depictions of flowery hills, dense forests, and peaceful rivers. Formerly a shoe designer in China, Trusova took up painting when she relocated to Belgium and needed a new creative outlet. Through experimentation, she developed her own unique style founded on prismatic hues and thick impasto.

Japanese Artisans Design Leather Handbags for Ultra-Specific Purposes

It's a beautiful thing when craft, so exacting and requiring such intense concentration, intersects with pure fun. Such is the case with The Fun of Carrying. Launched by Japanese leather goods maker Tsuchiya Kaban in 2020,  The Fun of Carrying is a design initiative in which individual artisans are given full creative freedom to create a vessel for carrying things—a bag of sorts. The first project to debut was Yusuke Kadoi’s Watermelon Bag.
