Spectral Curtains of Light Created Through Long-Exposure Photos Float Across Stark Landscapes

It started with an accident—or, in this case, more of a pleasant surprise. Back in 2014, Reuben Wu was shooting in California’s Trona Pinnacles national park at night when he realized something unexpected had wormed its way into his photographs. A truck’s headlights had illuminated the surrounding landscape; but, rather than being discouraged by a possibly ruined image, Wu was struck by inspiration.

Yancey Richardson Celebrates 30 Years With Stunning Photography Exhibition

In 1995, Yancey Richardson opened her eponymous gallery in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. It didn’t take long for her to relocate to Chelsea, a neighborhood that, by then, many other gallerists had already flocked to. Over the course of the next three decades, Richardson managed to stage nearly 300 exhibitions, each zooming in on contemporary photography with unprecedented focus. Now, the gallery is marking 30 years—all while getting its artists more involved than ever.

Zoo Sparks Controversy by Requesting Donation of Unwanted Pets To Feed Its Predators

In a Facebook post that has stirred a lot of big feelings, a zoo in Denmark reminded the public that it accepts the donation of small pets like rabbits, chickens, and guinea pigs to use as feed for its predators. The Aalborg Zoo says that it will gratefully accept unwanted animals, which are then “gently euthanized by trained staff” and given to animals like the zoo’s European lynx as part of their diet.

New 417-Megapixel Panorama of the Andromeda Galaxy Features Over 200 Million Stars

Ever since its launch in 1990, NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has greatly informed our understanding of the universe, capturing images of planets in our own solar system and galaxies billions of light-years away. But it was only earlier this year that the telescope accomplished one of its most stunning feats of astrophotography: a 417-megapixel panorama of the Andromeda galaxy. The Andromeda galaxy is among the closest to Earth, located 2.5 million light-years away from us.
