This Magical ‘Harry Potter’ Mask Turns Into the Marauder’s Map When You Breathe Into It

Harry Potter Mask by CPEX

Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that Americans wear face masks when venturing out in public spaces, many businesses have stepped up by releasing reusable face masks with unique designs that let you express your personality. Now, Potterheads can rejoice, as the owner of Colorado Pony Express (CPEX), Stefanie Hook, has created a magical mask that changes into the Marauder’s Map when you breathe into it.

Hook’s transformative face mask began gaining traction through her TikTok in a video that now has over 2 million views. When she first puts on the mask it appears to be black, without any pattern; but as she breathes into it, a print of the Marauder’s Map blooms across the cloth. The artist wanted to combine her love of the Harry Potter world with a product that could bring a little bit of magic into people’s lives.

Each mask, which takes an average of 17 hours to make, is specially designed. Hook applies color-changing pigment that reacts to temperatures above 82 degrees Fahrenheit to the licensed cotton fabric and sews it to the elastic bands. Although these fantastical masks are based on the CDC-provided pattern, Hook says her masks should not be worn as a replacement for medical protective equipment, such as N95 or surgical masks.

More magical masks will be available for purchase via Hook’s website on May 29th at 5 P.M. MT. In the meantime, you can watch more fun videos on her TikTok.
