Following the birth of her new bundle of joy in December, Brazilian blogger Thaise De Mari was all smiles in a post-labor photograph. Unlike many moms' hospital room pictures, however, De Mari did not wait until she was propped up in bed with her newborn baby Carmel cradled in her arms. Instead, she opted for an immediate and intimate c-section selfie.
In the now-viral photograph, the happy family beams just seconds after little Carmel's birth via a cesarean section. Clad in a disposable hospital cap and donning a surgical mask around his neck, De Mari's partner smiles as he snaps a selfie of the new family. De Mari, who is still lying on the operating table, also widely grins as the she holds the crying, seconds-old baby up to her face.
After posting the photo on social media, De Mari received many well-wishes and praise from her followers, who pointed out that the newborn baby's expression could comically be mistaken for a cheeky grin. While she may not have actually been beaming seconds after birth, the now 3-month-old baby is certainly all smiles in the many photos posted by her doting mother.
