Notre-Dame Spire is Being Rebuilt According to Original 19th Century Designs After Collapsing From the 2019 Fire

In April 2019, the world watched in horror as the roof of Paris's famous Notre-Dame cathedral was consumed by flames. Racing up the spire despite the best efforts of countless firefighters, the flames engulfed the iconic spire, which came crashing down onto the lead roof. Much of the roof was consumed, many of the treasures inside destroyed, and the damage extensive.

Simultaneous Face-to-Face Language Translation Will Be Offered at Tokyo Train Station This Fall

Japan is known for its state-of-the-art technology, and its latest creation is a significant step toward breaking language barriers. A new device named Voice Biz UCDisplay offers live face-to-face translation between Japanese and 11 other languages. Developed by printing company Toppan Inc, the translation tool can be best described as a window-like screen. When two users converse, real-time translations appear as text bubbles on either side of the screen.

Humans often think ourselves different from the animal kingdom, differentiated by our ability to think and create with tools. But in reality, apes, otters, birds, octopuses, and many other animals use tools, too. In fact, beyond not being the only modern creatures to use tools, humans were not event the first. Discoveries of stone tools have shown that early hominids, not “human” members of the later Homo genus, used stone flake tools in daily life.

Phillies Baseball Player Helps Young Boy Find His Family Before the Game

The crowds of a major league baseball game can be overwhelming, especially for children. When 7-year-old Caleb was at the Philadelphia Phillies stadium last weekend, he got separated from his family, which understandably caused the young boy to break down in tears. Unsure of who to turn to, little Caleb was fortunately approached by Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper. The baseball player kindly helped him find his brothers and grandmother.
