Sustainably Designed School Has a Walkable Roof to Fuse Architecture With Landscape

Construction has officially started on The New School, a contemporary project that is set to make history in Denmark. Designed by Danish architecture firm Henning Larsen, the New School will be the first Nordic Swan Ecolabel primary school in the country. This distinction means the building will meet strict environmental standards; to help make that possible, the building was completed in collaboration with SKALA Architects, ETN Arkitekter, MOE, Autens, and BO-HUS.

3,700-Year-Old Babylonian Tablet Is Found to Be the Earliest Example of Applied Geometry

Even if you're not a mathematician, you may have heard of the Pythagorean theorem in school. This method of calculating the side lengths of right triangles is named for the 6th century BCE Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras. Simply, the theorem states that the square of one leg of a right triangle, plus the square of the other leg, is equal to the square of the hypotenuse.

Photographer Captures Proud Lion Standing Triumphantly on a Hill of Bones

LA-based photographer Simon Needham was spending time at the GG Conservation in South Africa when he came upon a spectacular sight. Atop a mound of bones, an enormous lion stood proudly, surveying his land. The atmospheric sky that surrounded him enhanced the ambiance, as the golden light mirrored the animal's golden fur. It was the perfect photo. Needham, who often works with non-profits, was in South Africa to help the sanctuary with their promotional content.
