From glittering cappuccinos to photorealistic foam portraits, coffee is inspiring a surprising amount of creativity recently. The latest latte art to catch our eye is by Japanese hobbyist barista Kusanagi (who is known as Kunit92 on Instagram). She decorates hot brews with charming bird illustrations rendered in colored foam.
Kusanagi was initially inspired by her own pink bird named Sakura, a Bourke’s parrot, but she also creates all sorts of coffee birds. From cockatiels to sparrows, each caffeinated illustration delightfully captures our feathery friends’ characters—and they’re almost too cute to drink! Kusanagi even takes requests from other bird parents, and often shares pictures of her finished drinks on Instagram along with a portrait of the real bird.
