Meteorologist Wore the Perfect Green Screen Costume To Look Like She’s Floating on a Cloud

When KFVS News in Missouri broadcast the weather report on October 31, meteorologist Lisa Michaels decided to treat her viewers to a surprise. For Halloween, she created a special green screen costume that made her look like a floating cloud on screen.

Michaels’ costume comprised a fluffy cloud wrapped around her waist, which appears to be made of cotton wool. She also wore green screen fabric as a skirt, so that her legs would disappear on camera.  Michaels says, “I don’t want to give away my design secrets, but I can tell you that I used lots of hot glue and fiberfill in addition to green fabric to give the appearance of my floating when in front of the green screen.”

Michaels came up with her costume idea when she decided to make one that celebrated her profession. “My inspiration is a culmination of costumes that I have seen through the years,” she says. “Being an Atmospheric Scientist, I wanted to incorporate a weather-related theme to engage the viewers while presenting the weather.”

On October 31, the funny meteorologist posted images of her creation on Facebook. “Forecasting from the clouds this morning,” she captioned the post. “Happy Halloween!” Now, Michaels’ images have reached thousands of people and have received countless comments from those who appreciate her creativity. One viewer named Lon Reams wrote, “The green screen pants were a great touch!” The Facebook user also added his own clever idea for next time: “If you do this again, perhaps add in randomly flashing LEDs into the cotton to represent lightning.” How cool would that be?!
