2,977 Drones Recreate NYC’s Twin Towers To Honor Those Lost on September 11, 2001

Nearly 25 years after the September 11 attacks, the Twin Towers briefly returned to New York City’s skyline. On September 9, 2026, 2,977 illuminated drones rose above the water in Manhattan. They formed 2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor, a one-night public artwork honoring those killed on September 11, 2001. The powerful presentation was a collaboration with members of the 9/11 community, including family members, survivors, and first responders.

Japanese Town Creates Massive Minecraft-Inspired Design for Annual Rice Paddy Art Project

The town of Gyoda, Japan, has put itself on the map with a sizable tradition. Every year, the village rallies volunteers to create a massive work of rice paddy art, also known as tanbo art. Australia Proposes a Law That Would Let Citizens Turn Off Social Media Algorithms

Many people would admit that they’re addicted to social media, and recent research shows that the more time we spend on our phones, the more depressed and anxious we become. Last year, Australia banned social media for under-16s in a bid to curb the issue. Now, the government is introducing a new draft for a Digital Duty of Care legislation. If passed, the bill would give Australians the right to switch off social media algorithms.
