Delectable Fine Art-Inspired Cakes Look Like They Belong in a Museum

Sibling duo Madina Yavorskaya and Rustam Kungurov are the talented bakers behind Moscow-based bakery Tortik Annushka. But their cakes aren’t your ordinary tarts and pastries—they craft delectable desserts inspired by fine art. From a Van Gogh-themed double-tier cake to a Hieronymus Bosch-inspired masterpiece, scrolling through their Instagram is like visiting a virtual art museum—except it’s all edible!

Yavorskaya has a background in fine arts and Kungurov has experience in architecture, so they naturally decided to merge their skills to start their new creative venture. They opened their artisanal bakery in 2009, and since then, they’ve dedicated their time to creating extraordinary cakes that showcase their love of both art and sculptural forms. Despite their different backgrounds and styles, Yavorskaya and Kungurov work collaboratively on their elegant cake designs. “Ideas simply come to us, and sometimes, they emerge as we experiment,” says Yavorskaya. “We always work together, and we get inspired by progress.”

Each cake is made to order for special occasions such as weddings and birthdays, but when they aren’t baking, Yavorskaya and Kungurov teach classes at their baking school. You can learn how to bake and decorate multi-tier cakes, cake pops, and cupcakes. You can even take a master class in how to achieve their signature square cake topped with molecule-inspired chocolate spheres.
