Former Princess of Japan Is Now Working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC

Six months after moving to New York City, Japan's former princess Mako Komuro has found work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The 30-year-old daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito gave up her royal status when she married her commoner college sweetheart Kei Komuro in October 2021, relocating to the States soon afterward. Now, it appears as though Mako has found her footing in the metropolis with this creative career path.

100-Year-Old National Park Ranger Finally Retires After an Incredibly Impactful Career

At 100 years old, Betty Reid Soskin—aka Ranger Betty—became the oldest active park ranger for the National Park Service (NPS). Now, Ranger Betty has finally decided to retire—something that is certainly well earned! Soskin’s retirement marks the close of an influential 16-year-career with the NPS. In the early 2000s, the NPS and the city of Oakland, California, began planning for a new national park.

Mushrooms Have Their Own Language With Up to 50 “Words”

Humans create language through electrical impulses which course through our neurons. Communication is universal in the animal kingdom, but plants and fungi pose a bit of a silent mystery. As it turns out, they may communicate in “language” too. A new paper published in Royal Society Open Science suggests changes in fungi electrical potential indicate language. Surprisingly, each species seems to have their own lexicon.

The 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 is one of the most instantly recognizable cars of all time due in large part to the much-beloved Back to the Future films.
